A beer, wine, and spirits (BWS) brand noticed that a retailer’s search algorithm was ranking its main competitor’s products within the top 20 search results while the brand’s own products were not appearing in those positions without any obvious reason.
Action:
Monitoring share of search for the main category (“Whisky”) in the most important national retailer.
Weekly follow-ups identified that 75% of the top 20 results for this main category keyword were from another BWS brand. There were no sponsored products allowed in the retailer.
The retailer established that the algorithm was not working properly.
Result:
The BWS brand increased its share of search presence in Cencosud, and both manufacturers concentrated 45% of the top 20 results.
Increased sales performance from February 2024.
A fair share of search achieved.
